Configure multiple sites to organize users by physical location, manage emergency services per location, and create location-based call routing.
⏱️ Estimated Time: 20–30 minutes
👤 Who's This For
Account Owners, System Admins, Multi-Location IT Managers
💼 Use Case
Organizations with multiple physical offices, remote workers in different regions, or businesses needing location-specific emergency addresses and call routing.
✔️ Prerequisites
Admin access to Zoom Phone portal
Company settings configured
List of all physical locations/offices
Emergency addresses for each location
Extension numbering plan
When to Use Multiple Sites
You SHOULD enable multiple sites if you have:
Multiple physical office locations
Different emergency addresses needed
Location-specific phone numbers or area codes
Different business hours by location
You DON'T need multiple sites if:
Single office location
Remote workers using same emergency routing
No location-based requirements
💡 Important: After enabling multiple sites, Zoom will automatically create a main site and move everything to this site. Your organization still has one main company number, which will be applied to the main auto receptionist of the main site.
Steps to Enable Multiple Sites
1
Navigate to Sites Settings
Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit site settings
In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Company Info
2
Enable Multiple Sites
Click Enable Multiple Sites toggle
Confirmation dialog appears
Zoom will automatically create a main site and move everything to this site
All existing users, numbers, and settings move to Main Site
3
Decide on Site Codes (Optional)
Site codes allow abbreviated dialing between sites
Example: Site code "2" + extension "345" = dial 2345

💡 Site Setup Best Practices
See Details
Use clear location-based names "Chicago Office" not "Sales Team Site." Locations don't change, functions do.
Plan extension ranges with growth buffer Reserve blocks per site with 20-30% room. Example: NY (1000-1999), Chicago (2000-2999).
Only use site codes if you need them 4+ sites or thousands of extensions? Use codes. Smaller deployment? Skip the complexity.
Test E911 from each site Coordinate with local dispatch to verify correct address displays for 911 calls.
Copy auto receptionists, don't rebuild Copy your main site's auto attendant and customize. Saves massive time.

Assign remote workers to nearest office Remote workers use nearest office's site, then override with home address for E911.
Use site-specific caller ID Display local numbers on outbound calls to improve answer rates in each region.
Start with main site only Get your main location perfect, then expand. Don't overcomplicate day one.
Use bulk import for 5+ sites Manual is fine for 2-3 sites. Beyond that, CSV saves hours and reduces errors.
⚠️ Common Issues
See Details
Can't enable multiple sites → Some account types require Zoom support to activate multi-site. Contact your account team.
Extension conflicts after moving user → Extensions must be updated manually after site move. Check user settings and reassign.
Site-to-site calling not working → Verify correct dialing (site code + extension if enabled). Check inter-site calling policy.
Emergency address not updating → Address defaults to new site but verify manually after moving users. Always confirm.
CSV import failing → Format must exactly match template. Common issues: extra columns, special characters in names.
